HOW IT STARTED
One missing yearbook opened a bigger possibility.
Once I heard the yearbook was not going to happen, I organized a group of photographers to help document the year. We took student headshots in the library and used the pictures we had collected throughout the year to help tell the story of that class.
That experience showed me that preserving student life could not depend on one photographer being in every room. Almost every student already walks onto campus with a camera in their pocket. The real opportunity was giving students a simple way to contribute what they were already capturing.
WHY IT MATTERS
THE ORDINARY MOMENT DOES NOT STAY ORDINARY FOREVER.
The Aggie Archives grew from a simple belief: the people living campus life should be able to help preserve how it actually looked and felt.
A picture may feel regular today. Years later, the names, places, clothes, organizations and stories around it can become part of how a generation is remembered.

Aggie Archives became the foundation for a broader student-built archive system. Each participating campus now has its own submission portal so its photos, people, traditions and everyday college life can be preserved as a distinct record.
