Bringing a Drummer to the Tailgate
College Daze Aggie Eagle Classic darty is part of the larger story of how College Daze turns HBCU student culture into creative infrastructure.
The Aggie–Eagle Classic darty happened before the game, but it needed its own reason to be remembered.
So we brought a DJ and a live drummer to the campus tailgate. The combination turned familiar songs into something physical. The drummer answered the records; the crowd answered both.
One unexpected layer changes the format
We did not need to invent tailgating. We needed to find the detail that made our version distinct. Live percussion added tension, release, and a sense that the music was being made with the crowd instead of merely played at it.
Saint heard the story before he saw it. Daisy became the rhythm section. B-Loved learned that innovation does not always require a brand-new category. Sometimes it is one well-sourced collaborator placed exactly where nobody expected them.
